Why The Valvoline Transmission Flush Cost Is Lower Than Dealers

I just dig through Valvoline websites for different continents and found out that there is Valvoline Restore and Protect 10W-30 for South America and Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-30 and 0W-40 for the Chinese market. Valvoline Restore and Protect 10W-30 for the Latin American market, specifically Colombia.

How many Valvoline Restore and Protect oil changes have you done on this engine? This is an MB, and it requires 229.5 (or .6) oil, therefore I don't do full oil changes with V&P, I use it as an additive. Typically, 2 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 added to 5.5 qts of a name brand 229.5 rated oil.

I mentioned in another thread that I’d be comparing two MicroGard Select filters at 3k miles - One run with Valvoline Restore and Protect and the other with Mobil 1 Advanced Clean - to see if there’s any difference in deposits. Below are the results. 3k miles Valvoline Restore and Protect 3k...

I hope Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC proves itself too. With how successful Valvoline Restore and Protect oil has been, I doubt Valvoline would put the Valvoline Restore and Protect label on something that isn’t on par with the oil. I wished I had a vehicle that was poorly maintained that I could do some before and after pictures.

Mobil 1 - 20k/year Valvoline Restore and Protect - OEM Highly unlikely Mobil 1 Advanced Clean can clean piston deposits. They used the Seq VH sludge test to make their claims. I'd expect the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean to clean up some varnish and other areas of engine but skeptical on piston deposits. Mobil 1 Advanced Clean is likely better at longer drains with stronger oxidation resistance ...

As far as Valvoline Restore and Protect, it told me to run Valvoline Restore and Protect in my Tacoma for 3 intervals then go with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Mobil 1 ESP.

Valvoline doesn't make Restore and Protect in 10w40. Only 5w30, 5w20 and 0w20. They do make Valvoline Restore and Protect in 10w-40 actually, for the Australian market

Valvoline Restore and Protect (5w30) didn't seem to do much after 3 oil changes (around 12-14K miles on nothing but Valvoline Restore and Protect oil.) Changed the oil a few weeks ago and he has around 1200 miles on it (he had 2X longer trips last couple weeks) with a lot of highway miles. No oil loss. First time in a while.

Based on the discussions here it would seem that the cleaning potential of Valvoline Restore and Protect isn't just a marketing ploy. However, I cannot find any discussion about a comparison to high mileage oils and the seal conditioners that they typically contain. While most high mileage...

Before switching to Valvoline Restore and Protect (5W-20), my car didn’t burn any oil at all. I was getting my oil changes done at the dealership, even though my car’s getting up there in years, I’ve always wanted it properly maintained by experienced professionals.
