Salt licks for elk If I remember correctly, salt doesnt count as bait, correct? I know there are bait restrictions but I don't recall that applying to salt blocks etc. For example, would a 50lb bag of that salt mineral mixture be legal? The spot I want to lay it is on top of a long hike in so I don't want to go up there all the time.

Teanaway bull elk Most of these draw tags in the state are what you make of them. Put the effort in, hunt hard and see what happens. Plenty of big and really big bulls in that unit. To tag the monsters alot of things have to line up just right though so don't focus on the size as the true measure of success of the hunt is my opinion.

.300 BLK for elk? This may be a bit of a stretch. The 300 BLK from a 16" barrel has very similar ballistics to the 30 Herrett from a 14" handgun. The Herrett round is considered adequate for medium game at moderate ranges (150 yards and less) and less than ideal but functional on larger game a short range (under 75 yards).
