Future Film Roles Will Show Us How Old Is Carol Kane

Joshua Oppenheimer’s films show the political value of empathy in our polarized age. The film director Joshua Oppenheimer has built a reputation as an unflinching chronicler of political violence and ...

Future someLongComputation() async { ... } above, someLongComputation will immediately return a future, and after some time, said future will resolve with a string. What the await keyword does is wait until the future has returned a value and then returns said value, basically turning an asynchronous computation into a synchronous one, of course this would negate the whole point of ...

The function template std::async runs the function f asynchronously (potentially in a separate thread which might be a part of a thread pool) and returns a std::future that will eventually hold the result of that function call.

The code above might look ugly, but all you have to understand is that the FutureBuilder widget takes two arguments: future and builder, future is just the future you want to use, while builder is a function that takes two parameters and returns a widget. FutureBuilder will run this function before and after the future completes.

Considerations When future grants are defined on the same object type for a database and a schema in the same database, the schema-level grants take precedence over the database level grants, and the database level grants are ignored. This behavior applies to privileges on future objects granted to one role or different roles. Reproducible example:

A future statement is a directive to the compiler that a particular module should be compiled using syntax or semantics that will be available in a specified future release of Python. The future statement is intended to ease migration to future versions of Python that introduce incompatible changes to the language. It allows use of the new features on a per-module basis before the release in ...

FutureWarning: Downcasting object dtype arrays on .fillna, .ffill, .bfill is deprecated and will change in a future version. Call result.infer_objects (copy=False) instead.

A role is one of the characters that an actor or singer can play in a film, play, or opera. She has just landed the lead role in The Young Vic's latest production. Shakespearean women's roles were originally written to be played by men.

These actions will not block for the shared state to become ready, except that they may block if all following conditions are satisfied: The shared state was created by a call to std::async. The shared state is not yet ready. The current object was the last reference to the shared state. (since C++14)

C++ includes built-in support for threads, atomic operations, mutual exclusion, condition variables, and futures.

The promise is the "push" end of the promise-future communication channel: the operation that stores a value in the shared state synchronizes-with (as defined in std::memory_order) the successful return from any function that is waiting on the shared state (such as std::future::get).

The class template std::packaged_task wraps any Callable target (function, lambda expression, bind expression, or another function object) so that it can be invoked asynchronously. Its return value or exception thrown is stored in a shared state which can be accessed through std::future objects.

wait_until waits for a result to become available. It blocks until specified timeout_time has been reached or the result becomes available, whichever comes first. The return value indicates why wait_until returned. If the future is the result of a call to async that used lazy evaluation, this function returns immediately without waiting. The behavior is undefined if valid () is false before ...

If the future is the result of a call to std::async that used lazy evaluation, this function returns immediately without waiting. This function may block for longer than timeout_duration due to scheduling or resource contention delays. The standard recommends that a steady clock is used to measure the duration.

future (const future &) = delete; ~future (); future & operator =(const future &) = delete; future & operator =(future &&) noexcept; shared_future share () noexcept; // retrieving the value /* see description */ get (); // functions to check state bool valid () const noexcept; void wait () const; template

Checks if the future refers to a shared state. This is the case only for futures that were not default-constructed or moved from (i.e. returned by std::promise::get_future (), std::packaged_task::get_future () or std::async ()) until the first time get () or share () is called. The behavior is undefined if any member function other than the destructor, the move-assignment operator, or valid is ...

Unlike std::future, which is only moveable (so only one instance can refer to any particular asynchronous result), std::shared_future is copyable and multiple shared future objects may refer to the same shared state. Access to the same shared state from multiple threads is safe if each thread does it through its own copy of a shared_future object.

In summary: std::future is an object used in multithreaded programming to receive data or an exception from a different thread; it is one end of a single-use, one-way communication channel between two threads, std::promise object being the other end.

What is future in Python used for and how/when to use it, and how ...

The class std::future_error defines an exception object that is thrown on failure by the functions in the thread library that deal with asynchronous execution and shared states (std::future, std::promise, etc).
